About Charis

Charis is the founder of movement studio Hello Body and the community space Felt Sense.
She has spent over 14 years supporting individuals and groups in building relationship with their bodies, deepening self-expression, and supporting emotional and relational well-being — supporting a deeper orientation to life, where it can be more fully felt and lived.
I work at the intersection of body, relationship, and life transitions.
My work begins with deep listening and orientation – to the body, the nervous system, and the conditions that are alive in one’s life.
Working in a body-based way also means meeting the subconscious and unconscious as they surface through the body – in sensation, imagery, memory, and pattern.
From there, it weaves through somatic experiencing, somatic bodywork, movement, and relational inquiry, with space for creative expression – including art, sound, play, and dreams to emerge where relevant.
It is not confined to a single modality, but unfolds in response to what is present – creating the conditions for change, integration, and new ways of relating to emerge.
“Instructions for living a life:
Pay attention. Be astonished. Tell about it.”
— Mary Oliver

I often sit with people navigating grief, relational complexity, and how these are held in the body as psychosomatic symptoms, alongside the in-between spaces of life – where things are not yet clear, resolved, or named. These moments can be disorienting, but they also hold the potential for deep reorganisation and change when met with the right support.
“What we don’t need in the midst of struggle is shame for being human.”
— Brené Brown
Over the years, I’ve worked with individuals across a wide range of experiences, from physical symptoms such as chronic tension, migraines, and digestive issues, to emotional overwhelm, life transitions, and questions of identity, direction, and expression.
Rather than offering a fixed method, I work in a way that is responsive and co-created. Each space is shaped by what is present – in the body, in the nervous system, and in the wider context of a person’s life.
This work may take different forms:
- One-on-one sessions
Deep, personalised containers that may include somatic experiencing, bodywork, coaching, and nervous system support. These sessions support regulation, integration, and capacity building – whether you are working with physical symptoms, emotional patterns, or a desire to live with more clarity and ease. - Body-based inquiry & mapping
Exploring how symptoms and patterns are held in the body, not as problems to eliminate, but as expressions that can be understood, supported, and gradually reorganised. - Movement & embodiment work
Supporting you to inhabit your body more fully – whether for healing, expression, performance, or reconnecting with a deeper sense of aliveness. - Rituals & life transitions
Co-creating ceremonies and intentional spaces to mark thresholds – beginnings, endings, and everything in between – drawing from both structure and intuition. - Organisational well-being & curriculum development
Consulting with organisations and teams to support psychological and felt safety, relational health, and the design of training programmes and learning experiences that are grounded in embodiment, nervous system awareness, and lived practice.
This work is shaped by:
- A body-based (bottom-up) and cognitive (top-down) integrative approach, supporting nervous system regulation and the ongoing dialogue between body and mind
- The neuroscience of behaviour, pain, and connection, alongside a biopsychosocial understanding of how body, mind, and environment interact
- Systemic constellations work, with attention to intergenerational patterns, trauma, and illness
- The wisdom of Indigenous traditions, honouring relationality, cycles, and interconnected ways of living
- Nature as teacher, attuning to cycles, rhythms, and the intelligence of living systems
- Creative and expressive practices – including movement, art, sound, and play as pathways for exploration, integration, and self-expression
Her work is supported by training in:
- Somatic Experiencing Practitioner (SEP), supporting trauma healing (Ergos Institute)
- Diploma in Body-Oriented Coaching (The Somatic School)
- Bachelor of Science (Hons) in Psychology, University of Essex
- Nationally Certified Pilates Teacher (NCPT)
- Certifications in various movement, somatic, and therapeutic approaches
And continues to evolve through ongoing training and practice in:
- Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapy (BCST)
- Warm Data Labs, exploring relational and systemic ways of perceiving and being with complexity
- Rites of passage facilitation, supporting life transitions and thresholds
At its core, this work is about restoring relationship –
with the body, with self, with others, and with the larger rhythms of life.
“This is what we do.
We gather each other up.
We say, the cup is half yours and half mine.
We say, alone is the last place you will ever be.”
— Andrea Gibson
