Restorative Breath

What does it feel like to be able to access the fullness of your breath? What will life look like if your every breath brings in nourishment and vitality? The breath affects you from the physical/physiological level, to the emotional and right down to your very cells. In this Restorative Breath practice, learn to engage with the full capacity of your breath, play with it and connect with your unique life force. Come curious to explore the depths and the edges of your breath. Get ready to bring in nourishment, space, and deep restoration into your life.

Contraindications

We will practice a variety of breath techniques in the class, including breath retentions and more vigorous/energetic patterns, depending on the focus of the class for the day. Your safety is of the utmost importance to us. If you are pregnant, experiencing heart troubles, anxiety or any other medical issues, please let the instructor know beforehand so that adjustments can be offered for you. Preparation

  • Bring along an eye mask to deepen your experience.
  • You can also bring your own shawl/blanket/socks to find a little more comfort.
  • Dress for comfort – we will begin with some gentle movement, before proceeding to a reclined position.
  • It is preferable to practice on an empty stomach.
  • Please ensure that you are not under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
  • The studio has mats, reclining chairs, as well as cushions/bolsters to support you in your journey.

Maryam is a lifelong student of yogic and healing practices, with a dash of the esoteric and mystical. She is passionate about sharing the restorative and expansive gifts of pranayama/breathwork, yoga and meditation, against a background of healing soundscapes. She is fascinated by the transformative power of these practices to unlock our deepest creative potential and show us the full blessings of what life has to offer.

She is trained in breathwork, sound therapy, and yoga as well as offers Human Design guidance from an embodied lens. As a trauma-informed practitioner, Maryam ensures that you leave each session feeling seen, and nourished.
